World Prematurity Day
November 17, 2024
Over 13 million babies born too early every year.
Access to quality care everywhere!
World Prematurity Day is one of the most important days in the year to raise awareness of the challenges and burden of preterm birth globally.
The day was initiated by EFCNI and partnering European parent organizations in 2008. The international co-founders LittleBigSouls (Africa), March of Dimes (USA) and National Preemmie Foundation (Australia) joined the celebrations and made World Prematurity Day an intercontinental movement.
This year's theme, "Over 13 million babies born prematurely every year. Access to quality care everywhere!" highlights the stark global disparities in healthcare and calls for universal access to high-quality care for preterm babies, regardless of their birth circumstances or location.
For over five decades, we've been steadfast in our commitment to supporting Colorado families affected by prematurity, championing the cause initiated by our visionary founder, Zoya Dickins Miller, back in 1973. Our dedication to education and advocacy allows us to serve families and healthcare professionals by providing collaborative resources, community grants, and fundraising events.
